APL at The Grove

The APL space at the Grove is the flagship brick-and-mortar for the innovative and Los Angeles-based luxury athletic shoe / apparel brand, APL.

From the exterior, the store is singular, triple-height and 150-foot deep volume.  The feeling of depth is designed to feel infinite using full-height mirrored walls at the rear of the store.  A design collaboration between Paris-based architect Bernard Dubois and Peter Hamilton, the store’s design and execution are meant to evoke a sense of elevated emotion and simplicity.  Taking cues from the architecture of  old European cathedrals,  the shoes are framed and float along the length of the wall as if unique, individual pieces of art displayed in a museum.

The result is an elegant and quiet strength that compliments and reinforces the bespoke nature of the APL brand and its ethos.
